My Lord,
There is, I believe, to be an appeal in
this case against the sentence passed on this lady,
but meanwhile she should undoubtedly be removed
to this Country. The only difficulty is
by whom the expenses of her removal should be borne &
it is a legal one.
I see that by Section 154 of the China & Japan Order in Council of 9 March 1865 (annexed), the expenses of
sending any person to England shall be defrayed as in cases
of deportation and British subjects are from time to time directed...
